Buehrer Group is providing comprehensive professional design services—including architectural design, interior design, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and construction administration—for the new Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Offices. The new facility is designed to serve both operational and public needs, incorporating a camp store, registration office, seven private offices, a kitchenette, private and public restrooms, a public gathering space, and exterior storage.
The project began with a full assessment of existing site conditions, including utility services and topographical surveys. Buehrer Group prepared a study and report with an alternatives analysis, complete with renderings and cost estimates for multiple design options. At least one option was specifically developed to align with the published $3 million budget (inclusive of soft costs and contingency). This initial planning phase, which also included the development of a Program of Requirements (POR) and preliminary schedule evaluation, was completed within 60 days of contract approval.
Throughout the planning process, Buehrer Group conducted meetings with ODNR’s Division of Engineering and Division of Parks and Watercraft to evaluate goals, functional needs, and priorities for the project. Findings from these discussions informed the alternatives analysis and recommendations, which were documented with detailed reports, cost models, and conceptual renderings.
Following final design selection, Buehrer Group prepared construction drawings, specifications, and updated cost estimates. These documents are currently under review for plan approval and will serve as the basis for public bidding.
